creative ideals

diyfashion:

I’m glad I found this blog! I’ve been running out of ideas for what to make this summer.
I’ve been raiding my closet for old t-shirts and altering them to be more fashionable. A girl can go crazy with plain old jeans and t-shirts.
Cut from one inch from the collar diagonally to the bottom of the opposite arm hole. The straps are from scraps cut off another T-shirt alteration. There are 4 straps, 1 inch wide and about 25 inches long. They’re braided in the back (I treated two straps like one for braiding) and pinned in the front. I hope to get some light blue scraps in the future that match. The braided back of the straps looks pretty cool when using different colors.
Another variation is to poke holes in the shirt and knot the straps through it. It’s much more secure than just these little buttons. There are plenty of other variations possible (like, say, braiding the entire strap), so feel free to explore and make it your own.
